Voter Participation Toolkit for Employers

" The U.S. ranks 26th out of 32 developed democracies in percentage of eligible voters who participate in elections. Today, many companies have dedicated resources for corporate social responsibility projects aimed at strengthening society and building goodwill among employees, consumers, and the public. Voter participation initiatives align with the goals of social responsibility projects, as they address a critical societal problem (lack of engagement), while building goodwill with key stakeholders."

3 Step Guide for Businesses

Help your employees participate in elections with this simple, three-step approach:

Step 1: Encourage Voter Registration

  • Registration Links: Share the link to your state’s voter registration website or iwillvote.com.
  • Check Registration Status: Encourage employees to verify they are registered and their information is correct.
  • Update Details: Remind employees to update their address or name if needed.

Step 2: Share Voting Resources

  • Sample Ballots: Provide a link to Ballotpedia so employees can review their sample ballot.
  • ID Requirements: Ensure employees are aware of any ID requirements in your state.

Step 3: Support Making a Voting Plan

  • Find Polling Locations: Help employees find their polling place or Early Voting locations.
  • Plan to Vote: Encourage employees to decide whether to vote early or on Election Day, considering their schedule and transportation.
  • Early Voting Reminder: Remind employees that voting early can save time and reduce Election Day stress.
  • Make sure you give appropriate time off for voting and are following at a minimum the requirements in your state for employers.
